Count on Ten Frames - Up to 3

Learning to count with fun boxes!

What is a Ten Frame?

Ten frames are special boxes that help us count!
A ten frame has 10 boxes (2 rows of 5) but we'll start by counting just up to 3. Each box can hold one object. When we fill the boxes, we can see how many there are!

How to Count on a Ten Frame

1️⃣ Point to each filled box one at a time

2️⃣ Say the number as you point

3️⃣ The last number you say is how many there are!

Let's Practice Counting!

Example 1: Count the Apples

How many apples are there?

Example 2: Make Your Own Ten Frame

Count: 0

Parent Tips 🌟

  • Use real objects like buttons or cereal pieces to fill homemade ten frames - kids love hands-on learning!
  • Start with numbers 1-3 before moving to higher numbers to build confidence.
  • Make it a game! Ask your child to show you "3" on the frame in different ways (all in top row, scattered, etc.).
